Abram Alcantar, a.k.a. Al Cantar, is an artist, musician, and composer based in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas. As a multifaceted creative, he navigates sonic and visual worlds, blending them together to bring cultural memories and experiences together. Most recently, he has been featured as a co-musical director, composer, and performer for ViiV Healthcare's Sin Limites, an event dedicated to raising health awareness and education in the Hispanic/Latino community. As an artist, he has been featured in the Unidos Now Foundation's 2025 exhibition Nuestros Quince: 15 Years of Impact, raising funds with his paintings for Hispanic/Latino youth in higher education. His 10 plus years of experience as a cellist have landed him performances with the renowned Berklee Contemporary Symphony Orchestra and Berklee Motion Picture Orchestra, and around the world at Lagos de Conciertos in Valencia, Spain.

Alcantar’s fluency in the performing and visual arts grants him a unique ability to blur mediums, challenge definitions, and create otherworldly experiences. Collaborations with other artists have ultimately landed his career in film composition, the realized bridge between Alcantar’s connection to the performing and visual arts. He has been working on many short films with directors like Angel Orozco, and with Shy Productions. With a mission to uplift others, he expresses himself unforgivably and strives to be a role model for fellow first-generation queer immigrant Americans.

Abram Alcantar will be performing as part of Berklee’s Summer in the City 2026 concert series. View series schedule.
