Description

In this course on U.S. legal history, students will study American constitutional, civil, and criminal judicial processes — from probable cause to appeals, and from the trial court to sentencing. Students will analyze landmark U.S. Supreme Court cases and the arguments of different stakeholders in any given legal controversy. This course will examine the legal theories, procedures, and practices of the civil law system, along with the institutional and social controversies that arise within enforcement, prosecution, and defense in the criminal law system.
