Description

This DAW neutral course is an exploration in the creative sound design and production techniques essential to the Songwriter/Producer role. Building on skills learned in 100- and 200-level songwriting technology courses, students will learn how to analyze and replicate the sounds and sonics heard in contemporary electronic and pop songs today. Through a series of genre-based songwriting and production projects, coupled with in-class exercises, students will learn synthesis basics and sound sculpting techniques using software synths, along with advanced tips, tricks, and workflows utilized by today's taste-making, chart-topping writer-producers. This course will provide students with the necessary tools to develop their own signature sounds and gain a competitive edge in the current marketplace.
