This course provides an in-depth study into the technical and creative aspects of contemporary film score mixing. It is tailored for FILM majors who are looking to refine their skills and knowledge to a professional standard. Students will be introduced to a broad spectrum of advanced mixing techniques that are crucial for enhancing the emotional and storytelling elements of a film score. A combination of practical application and theoretical knowledge will ensure students are well-equipped to meet the industry's demands. The course covers the mastery of modern audio production and mixing tools extensively. Students will learn how to use EQ, compression, time-based, and modulation effects, as well as automation, to shape and enhance their mixes for clarity, balanced dynamics, and maximum musical expression. 

Spatial placement and immersion are key components of the curriculum, with students learning how to effectively use reverb and other spatial effects to create engaging and immersive audio experiences. Digital audio theory is also covered, offering insights into optimizing sound quality and mastering audio signal levels, as well as knowledge of advanced audio formats and delivery protocols, to ensure students can navigate post-production environments effectively. The course includes topics on 5.1 surround mixing, arming students with the necessary skills to create spatial and immersive audio environments. Students will also gain insights into the intricacies of hybrid score mixing and production techniques, equipping them with the skills needed to create dynamic and immersive scores that are ready to meet the demands of the modern media scoring industry. The curriculum ensures students can adapt their skills for various visual media and film genres through learning genre and medium-specific techniques.
