Xenia Rubinos

Xenia Rubinos is a vocalist, songwriter, composer, and performing artist from Hartford, Connecticut, by way of Cuba and Puerto Rico. With three full-length albums under her belt, her unique sound has garnered praise from The New Yorker, labeling it as “vocally generous, rhythmically fierce music that slips through the net of any known genre.” Known for her gripping live performances, Rubinos has toured internationally and appeared at Pitchfork Music Festival, North Sea Jazz Festival, Museum of Modern Art. She is equally at home in rock clubs and at festivals as she is in theaters and museums. Her latest album, 2021's Una Rosa (Anti Records) received acclaim, and she was featured in a profile by The New York Times. Rubinos performed on NPR’s Tiny Desk concert series, and her music has left its mark in film and TV, notably in the Netflix series Gentefied. Collaborating with a range of artists, from Deerhoof to Helado Negro, she continues to push boundaries. Beyond the stage, Rubinos has taken on roles as a composer in residence and clinician at esteemed institutions like the Curtis Institute of Music and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. She also composed the theme song for Latino USA, the longest-running Latinx-focused public radio program in U.S.
