Portuguese singer and composer Sofia Almeida takes the stage with guitarist Gabriel Maia and cellist Peter Sumner for a memorable trio performance. Embark on a joyful musical journey where jazz, Brazilian music, and the vibrant essence of summer smoothly meld together.
Sofia Almeida is currently pursuing a music performance degree at Berklee College of Music. She is part of the Berklee Global Jazz Institute's undergraduate program, where she receives mentorship from jazz legends such as Danilo Pérez, John Patitucci, Joe Lovano, and Patricia Pérez, among others.
Sofia’s music seeks freedom and truth, hoping to have an impact on people’s connections to themselves and the world. Her compositions strive for new and fresh sounds inspired by jazz music, her Portuguese heritage, the delight that Brazilian music has brought her, and the creative universe of improvisation.
She recently had the privilege of performing alongside the Grammy Award–winning Generation Gap Jazz Orchestra, led by Steven Feifke and Bijon Watson, at the Berklee Performance Center in Boston.
