In Their Own Words
I want students to come away with both craft-level tools they can use immediately and the perspective to navigate the realities of the music industry with confidence and resilience. Bridging academia and industry is central to my teaching, as is helping students connect inspiration with discipline and consistency. My aim is for students to leave feeling creatively capable, strategically informed, and prepared and excited to pursue songwriting as a Plan A career.

My professional background allows me to teach songwriting in a way that is both creatively grounded and industry-aware. Having worked for many years as an active songwriter, collaborator, and entrepreneur, I bring real-world processes into the classroom, from how songs are written and developed to how they are pitched, released, and sustained over time.

Because I remain engaged with the industry, my teaching reflects current realities rather than theory alone. I use practical exercises, real examples, and case studies drawn from my own work to help students connect inspiration with consistency and understand how creative decisions intersect with career outcomes. This approach helps students build both stronger songs and a clearer, more resilient sense of how to navigate the music industry.
