Digital Arranging and Production
Students enrolled in this course will develop a complex understanding of non-linear arrangement workflow in Ableton Live and discover its creative potential. Whether it be in the studio or onstage, it is a powerful music production and live performance tool that allows musicians and multimedia artists to be spontaneous, connected, collaborative, or self-sufficient, all while remaining extremely flexible and in control of their artistry. Students will learn, discuss, and introduce concepts ranging from live looping, digital signal processing, MIDI mapping, signal routing, performance and non-linear songwriting techniques, syncing external and legacy devices, syncing lighting and visuals, and much more. As a project-oriented course, students will explore and develop their artistic voice through collaboration, electronic music production, digital arranging and live performance.
