Lighting Design and Camera
Light Design and Camera for Live Music Production Design is a master’s course that involves the theory and practice of lighting design as a medium for artistic communication and expression. We will develop the observation and application skills necessary to design lighting for a variety of live experiences. Lighting design covers a broad range of skills from the scientific to the psychological. We will work to develop the skills and knowledge to become a true collaborator, as well as demonstrate the technical prowess to operate efficiently, effectively, and unencumbered.
This course will also include the study of camera capture, as an inverse relationship to lighting. Camera is quickly becoming the primary “audience” even at “live” events. It is imperative to understand and excel at the capture of live events through the lens, born out of an acute awareness of the functions of light, something not common to the camera industry.
