John Michael Bradford
John Michael Bradford presents a showcase of jazz and funk music, as well as original compositions and arrangements. Like so many before him, his passion for music was sculpted by the spirit, sounds, and fate of New Orleans, Louisiana. Inspired by Sam Williams of Big Sam’s Funky Nation during his time of evacuation for Hurricane Katrina, Bradford realized what he wanted to do with the rest of his life. He returned to New Orleans, determined to become a professional musician.
On his debut album, Something Old, Something New, he maintains the legacy of traditional New Orleans jazz trumpeters such as King Oliver, Louis Armstrong, and Al Hirt. The 2017 album was nominated for best contemporary jazz album by OffBeat Magazine. Bradford is a senior at Berklee College of Music, where he attends on a full scholarship.
