Description
This course helps students develop practical tools for building their career in jazz in a changing landscape of opportunities in the jazz world. Topics include: exploring all phases of recording, from preproduction to mastering; marketing different kinds of jazz acts; calculating revenue streams, cost-to-benefit analysis, tax implications, and basic accounting; digital strategy, including social media and websites; music distribution; networking; and a variety of other important topics. Students learn how to maximize their time, money, and energy toward their career goals.
