Concerts and Touring
This course offers a comprehensive overview of the live music industry, with a focus on the business, legal, operational, and logistical components of planning, producing, and promoting concerts and tours. Students will examine the key players, revenue streams, and processes involved in developing and executing successful live events—from small club shows to arena tours. Topics include tour budgeting and routing, performance agreements, venue operations, production management, ticketing models, marketing and promotion, sponsorships, and event settlements. Emphasis is placed on real-world scenarios, current trends, and the collaborative relationships between talent agents, promoters, production managers, venue staff, and artist teams. Students will also explore the evolving economics of the live sector, including the growing role of festivals, VIP experiences, and brand partnerships in driving audience engagement and profitability.
