Celebrating the 13th anniversary of the Berklee Global Jazz Institute, this concert will feature top BGJI alumni and student talent performing original compositions with a host of acclaimed faculty and visiting artists, including BGJI Artistic Director Danilo Pérez.

Legendary saxophonist Gary Bartz will be featured during this year's summit in performance with bassist John Patitucci; multiple Grammy Award–winning drummer, producer, and educator Terri Lyne Carrington; and Grammy Award winner, pianist, composer, producer, and educator, Danilo Pérez. Bartz has performed with Art Blakey, Charles Mingus, Eric Dolphy, McCoy Tyner, Miles Davis, and many others.

Another group performing this evening will be the Global Messengers, comprised of alumni from the Berklee Global Jazz Institute, of which Danilo Pérez is the founder and artistic director. Besides Pérez, the group features American vocalist Farayi Male, Palestinian cellist Naseem Alatrash and percussionist Tareq Rantisi, Greek laouto player Vasilis Kostas, Kazakhstan pianist Anastassiya Petrova, and Greek vocalist Erini Tornesaki.

A Grammy Award winner, pianist, composer, producer, and educator, Danilo Pérez is also a social activist, humanitarian, and leading proponent of global jazz. Pérez is among the most influential and dynamic musicians of our time. His music is a blend of Panamanian roots with elements of Latin American folk music, jazz, European impressionism, and African and other musical heritages that promote music as a multidimensional bridge between people.
