In Their Own Words

"Having worked in concert production/promotion, concert tour coordination, and artist management for many years helped me to learn how the live entertainment business works. I was able to experience this industry from multiple perspectives—the artist, the tour, the promoter, the venue, and beyond. Additionally, I learned how concerts do not exist in a vacuum. Ideally, when studying music business, students should demonstrate deep understanding of other areas of the music industry—especially the myriad revenue streams for artists, songwriters, other rights holders, and other stakeholders. As a teacher, I really enjoy finding innovative ways to help students 'connect the dots' amidst the complexities of the music industry.
