In this session, presented by Alfredo Cardim, we examine Antônio Carlos Jobim’s compositions before and during the bossa nova years.
Part one (1947–1958) focuses on Jobim’s work as a musician, arranger, and composer, from sambas/canções to musicals and movie soundtracks.
Part two (1958–1995), which reviews how bossa nova developed in Brazil in the late 1950s and how it became popular in the United States and the world, includes a live band performing Jobim’s biggest hits.
