Nikayla and the phuNk is something you aren’t ready for. Nikayla Byirt is a cellist and multi-instrumentalist from Jacksonville, Florida. Inspired by the sounds of funk, classical, soul, and R&B, she bends the meaning of genre. She currently attends Berklee College of Music in Boston. Her mission is to bring back what many people miss in music while using what you may never expect to hear. Nikayla and the phuNk chooses to open doors for those who want to play outside of the boundaries given to them.
