Annica McDougall, also known as Annie, is a 23-year old violinist, folk-fiddler, vocalist, and mandolinist based in Boston. Inspired by folk, roots, bluegrass, country, and classical repertoire, Annie performs covers and original music in bands around Boston such as Renee and the Renegades and Just Strings.

Annie is currently in her second year at Berklee College of Music, where she is studying performance with a focus on jazz and roots music. She started playing violin at three years old, and has been performing classical and pop repertoire on a professional level since she was 14. In 2021, she decided to pursue music full time. She attended the Boston Conservatory for a year where she discovered and fell in love with fiddle music. Since then, she has learned how to play the mandolin, as well as the guitar and banjo and is hoping to perform as a multi-instrumentalist in the future. She also regularly performs and records with many of the student artists at Berklee, and is currently employed as a session musician by the school.

At Berklee, Annie has had the opportunity to expand her musical repertoire and perform with the acoustic blues and celtic ensembles, as well as the old time ensemble. Recently, she recorded an hour of music with the Berklee World Strings ensemble for NPR’s radio show, From the Top. She has been able to work closely with artists such as Bruce Molsky, Beth Bahia Cohen, and Sara Caswell, and is looking forward to lessons over the summer with jazz fiddler and mandolinist Jason Anick.

She will be performing all summer as a member of Renee and the Renegades most notably at SoulFest 2023.
