Havins
Havins, a Boston, Massachusetts–based alternative Americana band, is led by singer-songwriter Dillon Havins. Originally from Austin, Texas, he grew up listening to Texan country music, but his current songs reflect influences by indie artists Bon Iver, Shakey Graves, and Ben Howard. As he sings in “Elbows,” “I grew up in the country, under the big oak tree. … Now I spend my days in the city, studying poetry.”
While attending Berklee College of Music, he met his bandmates: Tara Maggiulli, Wilson Reardon, Jay Yin, Philip Etherington, and Ryan Siegel. He also participated in season one of ABC’s American Idol reboot and made it to the show’s Hollywood Week.
In summer 2018, the band went to Texas for its first tour, playing shows around Austin and Dallas. Currently, the band is in the studio, laying down tracks for its debut single, “My Love.” Havins also plans an East Coast tour this summer. Havins endeavors to bring the musical experience back down to earth, leaving listeners enlivened and contemplative.
