Jazz Trailblazer is a tribute to the women artists who served as pioneers throughout the history of jazz music. The group will feature music by and share stories about jazz composers Bessie Smith, Billie Holiday, and Carla Bley, and songwriters Joni Mitchell and Carole King.

Pianist Mark Shilansky presents a program of jazz and world music written and inspired by composer Vince Mendoza, whose music has been recorded by jazz luminaries such as Michael Brecker, John Scofield, and Luciana Souza, and who has written arrangements for pop artists such as Joni Mitchell and Björk. Shilansky explores Mendoza's music in small group settings, from trio to multi-horn ensembles, featuring a variety of Berklee faculty guests.

Berklee Ear Training Department faculty perform original compositions and arrangements of jazz, classical, and popular music.

This performance features all new original music from saxophonist Rick DiMuzio. While the pieces are presented with a jazz sensibility, they pay tribute to different classical masters from Brahms to Bartók.
