This course offers one-on-one instruction in musical theater writing and is designed to provide students writing songs in the musical theater idiom the opportunity for highly focused, in-depth study of writing music, lyrics, book, or any combination of the three. As a continuation of SW-399 for songwriting majors, students are guided in the final preparation of their advanced-level projects with a musical theater focus. In addition, students will finalize business development materials that help them market their talent and work. Whether for the songwriting major or the musical theater writing minor, the primary outcome is the preparation of a final portfolio.
