Senior Seminar in Songwriting: Songwriter-Producer Focus

Course Number
SW-391
Description

The Senior Seminar: Songwriter-Producer focus is designed to prepare the student for a career as songwriter-performer. The course is divided into two parts: a small group class designed to guide students in the preparation of their final projects and a large group seminar where students can develop community and meet with industry professionals. This course requires students to construct a small portfolio of works; develop a creator vision; create short and long term action plans; design business materials; register with appropriate CMOs; and discuss, analyze, and research industry norms and contacts. Through the course deliverables, students will demonstrate proficiency as a songwriter-producer. Students also attend a weekly seminar where featured industry guests discuss different aspects of the music industry.
