Advanced Skills for the Songwriter-Producer

Course Number
SW-383
Description

SW-383 reinforces skills established in the foundational technology courses of the Songwriting Department's core curriculum. This advanced elective course is designed to equip self-producing songwriters with the necessary tools and strategies for producing professional-level content, enhancing and expanding songwriting skills and workflows, improving employability, and fostering independence in the creative process. The course maintains a DAW-neutral approach, allowing students to choose their preferred creative tools and reinforce learned outcomes from previous DAW specific courses. Students will engage in various projects, including the composition and production of four new songs. These projects will require students to self-assess, collaborate, write, and produce high quality productions. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to work with featured artists to create custom work from initial composition to final master.

This course is required to take the Songwriting/Producer focused Senior Seminar and Directed Study.
