Topline 2 for Songwriters and Producers

Course Number
SW-372
Description

This elective reinforces skills taught in the Topline 1 course and core songwriting major core courses. This advanced course takes students in-depth into topline creation, completion, and delivery.  Through weekly assignments and projects, students focus on creating toplines from predefined parameters such as; artist/project limitations and requirements; modern music market considerations, and authentic genre features. Students will also delve into topline collaboration, advanced vocal production and processing of toplines and the business of toplining. In this plan of study, students will learn from both the songwriter and producer perspectives. Each of these roles play a significant part in completing a successful collaboration in toplining.
