Culminating Experience Project Proposal

Course Number
PS-591
Description

In this course, students work closely with their faculty advisor to conceive and develop their culminating experience—a practical, creative, or research-based project that enables students to contribute to their field of study while advancing their academic and professional goals.

Beginning in the first week (or during orientation) and continuing throughout the semester, students meet regularly with their advisors to present ideas, receive feedback, and obtain guidance as they design their culminating experience and plan their academic and career pathways. Advisors support students in meeting program milestones and deadlines and in developing the culminating experience proposal.

The course is structured around alternating group and individual meetings. Students meet as a cohort in group sessions every other week, and in the intervening weeks meet individually (one-on-one) with their faculty advisors. Group meetings provide a shared guidance on developing and refining culminating experience projects. Individual meetings focus on personalized advising and project development.

By the end of the semester, students will have developed a detailed culminating experience proposal that clearly defines the project’s goals, scope, and implementation plan.
