This advanced course explores the theory, techniques, and technologies involved in mastering music for both stereo and multi-channel delivery formats. Students will develop the critical listening skills and technical expertise necessary for preparing audio content for diverse playback environments including streaming platforms, physical media, immersive audio systems (5.1, 7.1, Dolby Atmos, and spatial audio), and emerging delivery formats. The course combines theoretical foundations with hands-on practice using industry-standard mastering tools and workflows. Students will examine the aesthetic, technical, and commercial considerations that inform mastering decisions while exploring how innovation in music technology continues to reshape the mastering process.
