Music Video Production

Course Number
MTI-561
Description

At their best, music videos are mini movies that visually capture the emotional context of songs and can even expand on the story of a song's lyrics. In this course students will acquire the skills to produce high-quality music videos that tell the stories of songs in visually compelling ways, especially using “guerilla” techniques (self-produced, low budget projects). Through the use of standard movie-production teams, schedules, lighting, cameras, and post production techniques, students will gain real-world experience in video production before applying these techniques in their own productions. The class experience includes analysis of music video examples, hands-on practice with cameras and lighting equipment, technical exercises with cameras and software, and creative experiments with innovative filming and post production techniques.
