This course provides graduate students in music production technology and innovation with a comprehensive understanding of contemporary music theory. Students will explore advanced harmonic concepts, melodic construction, rhythmic structures, and form analysis as applied to modern musical contexts including popular music, electronic music, film scoring, and experimental genres. The course emphasizes practical application of theoretical concepts to production and composition workflows. Students will demonstrate proficiency through a combination of incremental assignments and progressive assessments throughout the 14-week term.
