Foundations and Contemporary Issues in Music Education

Description

This course serves as an orientation, or reinvigoration of interests in the profession for graduate students as part of their degree program. Throughout the semester, students will survey the history of music education, the development of public education in America, and contemporary issues in music education, while including the philosophical, political, and social foundations of teaching music in the public schools. Class readings, in-class dialogue, and participatory activities are all integral parts of this course.
