Music and the Neurodiverse Learner

This course provides students with the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the neurodiverse learner in music education settings. Through readings and in-class activities, students will learn about theoretical models of neurodiversity and disability, various aspects of specific neurodivergent diagnoses, and the broader school and societal contexts in which neurodiverse individuals learn music. Through simulations and observations, students will gain direct experience with evidence-based teaching strategies that can be employed in teaching music to neurodiverse learners.
