Description

MB-488 Contract Drafting and Analysis is an immersive course that introduces students to the essential principles and techniques of drafting and interpreting contracts in the music and entertainment fields. Students will master fundamental contract law concepts—including formation, defenses, breach, and remedies—while building practical skills in drafting and analyzing the provisions that define a career. Students will learn how to identify "red flag" clauses, mitigate risks, and craft precise language that protects the interests of creatives as well as stakeholders.

Through real-world scenarios and case studies, students will engage with the primary agreements that drive the industry, including recording contracts, publishing deals, licensing arrangements, and management agreements. The course also addresses ethical best practices, preparing students to navigate complex legal language, negotiate favorable terms, and make informed professional decisions. By the end of the course, students will possess a foundational toolkit of drafting skills applicable to any legal or business role in the entertainment industry.
