The music industry is in a constant state of flux. The internet and the digital revolution have given rise to a slew of new platforms, processes, practices, policies and business models. In this course, students will research, discuss, analyze, present, argue, defend, and write about recent developments, as well as a variety of topics based on current events obtained from leading industry sources (ex. Hypebot, Music Ally, Billboard Bulletin, etc.), and/or one or more designated topics, based on the individual instructor’s area of interest or expertise, (ex. new streaming platforms, music industry social justice initiatives, the use and impact of social media, companies going public, etc.).
