Description

This course will explore the concepts of leadership and organizational behavior as they apply to the unique challenges involved in managing music, entertainment, and arts-related organizations. Using established research, articles, videos, and “ripped from the headlines” case studies, students will examine the various styles of leadership with particular emphasis on the difference between transactional and transformational leadership styles. Through self-assessments, students will identify their personal and professional strengths and weaknesses. They will also be asked to assess their ability, potential, and desire to effect individual and organizational change. Please note that music business and management majors who want to take this course as a major elective can do so with permission of the instructor.
