Women in Electronic Music
This class will focus on celebrating the repertoire, impact, and legacy of women in electronic music. Students will study the work of a variety of musicians, composers, and producers, from pioneers such as Suzanne Ciani, Wendy Carlos, and Honey Dijon, to contemporary artists such as Rachel K Collier, Jlin, TOKiMONSTA, and Carolina Eyck. Emphasis will be placed on the technical and aesthetic aspects of the individual artists, and the unique approaches they bring to the field of electronic music. Students will produce renditions of quintessential works by these artists, and adapt them for live performance.
