Stage Performance Techniques for Vocalists

Description

In this course students will explore methods to help them deliberately and thoughtfully create artful, engaging, moving, and memorable performances in live performance spaces. They will study the following topics and techniques with the intention of building an ongoing practice for enhancing their audience engagement skills:  

  • awareness/mindfulness building
  • movement and gesture
  • storytelling
  • management of errors and the unexpected
  • stage banter and direct audience involvement in live performance

Students will video record their in-class performances for study/reflection.
