Advanced Scoring Technology for Media Composers
Modern media composers work in highly technical environments where creativity depends on the mastery of complex studio systems. This course provides an in-depth exploration of the advanced tools and workflows that define the professional scoring studio. Students gain hands-on experience integrating multiple DAWs (Cubase, Logic Pro, and Pro Tools), managing large networked sample templates through Vienna Ensemble Pro, synchronizing external video playback using tools such as Video Sync and Pro Tools, and configuring advanced control systems—including Avid S-Series surfaces and iPad-based controllers like Metagrid Pro, Lemur, and TouchOSC. Designed for upper-semester film scoring majors, this course develops both the creative efficiency and technical fluency required to work as a composer, collaborator, or assistant in today’s film, television, and media scoring industries.
