Gospel Ear Training

Course Number
ET-342
Description

This course offers a hands-on exploration of gospel music, allowing students to dive directly into its unique rhythms, melodies, and harmonies. While we’ll explore the genre's rich cultural and historical background, the focus is on giving students an opportunity to experience gospel music firsthand. Students will actively engage with the music by studying and practicing the key elements that define the genre—whether vocal techniques, instrumental arrangements, or the intricate rhythms that drive the sound. Through group exercises, performance-based projects, and guided practice, students will develop a deeper understanding of the gospel’s musical foundations and gain the skills to bring those elements to their work. By the end of the course, you’ll have a hands-on, in-depth experience of gdospel music that goes far beyond theory, connecting you to the genre on a personal and practical level.
