This course provides a hands-on experience in contemporary studio production tools and techniques employed in electronic music production. It delves into the practical application of these tools in crafting innovative electronic productions. The primary emphasis of the class lies in studio production techniques that transcend the limitations of laptops, fully utilizing the creative possibilities inherent in a professional studio environment. Throughout the semester, students will work with a diverse range of analog and digital hardware, including synthesizers, signal processors, analog mixing consoles, and DAW control surfaces. The analysis and interpretation of contemporary work by renowned electronic producers serves as a catalyst for classroom activities and student projects. Additional course activities include vocal recording and production, creative studio production techniques, and more.
