Practice-Based Research: Sound, Listening, and Identity
Course Number
EP-394
Description
Through the methodology of Practice-Based Research, this course teaches students how to make space to reflect on their creative practices and how to develop new strategies and tools for creating thematic, concept-driven works. The primary focus of this study is the topic and integration of identity, including the development of an artistic voice; the formation of the self; and the relationship between sound, listening, and identity, both within and outside of the arts. Embracing the breadth of approaches to sound supported by EPD, the course welcomes any form of creative practice students wish to engage with (two-three track EPs, multichannel compositions or installations, game sound design, stand-alone compositions, etc).
