Sound Design Lab: Topics in Sound Design

Description

In this course students will design synthesizer sounds that are characteristic of a specific electronic music genre, such as future bass, techno, house, lo-fi, hip-hop, and other. Each semester the course will focus on a different genre. Students will use critical listening skills to reverse engineer typical sounds from a genre and will create their own versions based on initial sounds, using common synthesis, effect processing, real time control techniques. Students will leave the course with an understanding of how professional sound designers create synthesizer presets.
