Vocal Improvisation Ensemble 1: Mixed Styles

Description

This course is an ensemble for vocalists focusing on basic skills in improvisation in a variety of styles. Students will learn melodic and rhythmic phrasing embellishments using tone colors and will hear basic blues patterns in vocal styles including pop, rock, R&B, and jazz.

Building on skills acquired in ENVC-110 Introduction to Ensembles for the Vocalist or ENVC-111 Rhythm Section Grooves for Vocalists 1, students will write basic lead sheets and/or chord charts for use in class.
