Live Production Techniques for Musical Directors

Description

A performance class for aspiring musical directors and solo artists to teach design of Ableton playback for commercial touring productions. This class is for beginning Ableton users. Skills acquired from this class can be directly utilized in a wide range of performance opportunities. Students will learn to create Ableton playback sessions, automated sonic elements throughout a set, and add live looping to their show. The course will explore pre-production, rehearsal techniques, and interpersonal skills as a band leader. Students will rotate between the role of music director and ensemble musician in the class. The course will culminate in each student directing their classmates in a fully produced set that they direct and control from stage with Ableton Playback.
