Musical Theater Score Lab

Course Number
CMWT-635
Description

This course will have students working closely with faculty on the implementation of feedback and rewrites for their Culminating Experience musical. Focusing on dramaturgical principles, this course will lead students through the distillation of critique received in their core classes. Additionally, students will receive guidelines for effective steps in how to accept feedback in classes where they are generating new material, as well as how to prepare for feedback within the musical theater industry. Topics will include the management of emotions, how to be more proactive in the receipt of information, and how to implement feedback that will be useful to the clarity of the work. Students will be encouraged to bring work into class which they have previously received feedback in order to successfully execute rewrites.
