Course Number
CMSP-569
Description

This is a hands-on, experiential class for developing engaging performances with Ableton Live. In this class, students will learn how to take advantage of the non-linear approach of Ableton’s Session View to create dynamic performances that encourage flexibility and improvisation. The semester will be a mix of production and performance exercises designed to discover ideal arrangements for live electronic music, as well as methods for reverse-engineering completed productions for a live setting. Students will use controllers to explore fundamentals of launching and looping clips, building up arrangements, melodic playing and improvisation, vocal processing, effect manipulation, and rudimentary integration of reactive visuals.
