Synthesis Techniques

Course Number
CMSP-568
Description

In this course students will master the fundamentals of sound synthesis and apply synthesizers in the creation of popular music. By using many important hardware and software synthesizers to create basses, pads, keys, leads, and percussion sounds, students walk away with the confidence to craft the sounds they hear in the music they love. Lectures, guided explorations, and weekly projects provide the students with the skills to manipulate synthesizers, but more importantly they develop the student’s ear so that they can effectively analyze and describe any synthesized sound they hear.
