Description

Project Management 1 for Live Production Design is a master's level course that intricately blends project management principles with design thinking methodologies to foster innovation and creativity in live production design. Over fifteen weeks, students will navigate through the stages of project initiation, planning, execution, and closure, enriched by the application of design thinking frameworks to real-world challenges in live production. The curriculum encompasses stakeholder engagement, work breakdown structures, risk and scope change management, budgeting, and cost control, while also delving into design fundamentals such as empathy, ideation, prototyping, and user-centered design. Special sessions with industry experts, case studies, and hands-on workshops will provide practical insights into managing live production projects and applying design thinking for set and lighting design, script development, and innovative concept development. The course culminates in a final project presentation, allowing students to apply learned principles to a live production design challenge, preparing them to lead and innovate in the dynamic field of live production.
