Orchestration Techniques and Concepts for the Contemporary Theater
This course will examine practical and conceptual orchestration techniques and methods commonly found in the world of musical theater and beyond. Through examining various common sounds and instrumentations found in the field, students will explore the contemporary musical theater orchestrator's toolbox in both technological and musical terms. Students will explore the usage of the various skills required of the modern orchestrator to create clear and thoughtful sheet music for a variety of instruments. They will also use computer software to realize a fully thought-out orchestration ready for performance in any production.
