Faculty bassist and composer Fernando Huergo’s latest project features his original compositions and arrangements for big band. Consisting of some of Boston’s finest musicians, the group plays the music of Thelonious Monk, Wayne Shorter, Dave Holland, Antonio Loureiro, and Huergo. The music features odd meters and a modern approach to the big band sound, and it appears on Huergo’s latest album, The Possibility of Change, released in 2020. Music from this album and new compositions will be featured in this concert.
