Joy Clark

Joy Clark's career as a performer has spanned theaters across the U.S., with her work ranging from the comedic to the dramatic, from Shakespeare to musicals. Described as an industry chameleon, she was acclaimed for her physical comedic work as Ellie Mae Chipley in Show Boat at Reagle Music Theater, and she played the role of Belle as a member of North Shore Music Theater’s historic production of A Christmas Carol in the round for two seasons. As a theater educator, Clark teaches all ages, from kindergarteners to college students. In the New York City public school system, she taught movement and dance, and for multiple years she has taught musical theater production, audition technique, and song interpretation at musical theater camps, including those at CMT San Jose, Reagle Music Theater, and Wheelock Family Theater.

Clark is currently an assistant professor at Berklee, where she teaches musical theater dance and directs and choreographs the school’s Musical Theater New Works Ensemble. She's also on the theater faculty at Emerson College and is the interim youth theater workshop director for Reagle Music Theater. She teaches master classes from coast to coast, and recently presented a Fosse/Hamilton musical theater dance workshop for company members and teachers at Stockton Ballet School, her childhood dance studio. Clark and her partner, Ryan Mardesich, privately coach song and monologue interpretation remotely, and give both virtual and in-person lectures on audition technique and theater as a business. As a director/choreographer, Clark stages for young people’s productions and professional theaters alike. Recent productions include the immersive club experience The Dunster Club, Pippin, the world premiere of The Erlking, The Rocky Horror Show, Snoopy: The Musical, and Fiddler on the Roof, for which she restaged Jerome Robbins’s original Broadway choreography. Clark’s choreography for professional productions of Seussical and Stuart Little were seen by hundreds of families at the Boston Children’s Museum and Wheelock Family Theater.
