Roland Hayes
Celebrate the 100th anniversary of trailblazing African-American tenor Roland Hayes's debut with the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
With his 1923 BSO performance, Hayes not only became the first Black soloist with a major American orchestra, he solidified his position as the first truly internationally-recognized Black male classical vocalist, and began more than 50 years of mentoring and inspiring legendary Black artists such as Marian Anderson, Paul Robeson, and Boston Conservatory at Berklee honorary doctorate recipient Leontyne Price.
Join Berklee community soloists and guests, including the Boston Public Quartet in celebrating the life and legacy of Roland Hayes, tenor, titan, and trailblazer.
