Christoff Jamal Glaude BM '20 has been surrounded by music since before he was born. His parents, Monet Ledbetter-Glaude and Ian Glaude, are both professional musicians and graduates of Berklee—where they met and built careers in music.
Glaude began playing piano and drums at age five. By eleven, he joined a local Boston kids' band called So Amazing as a keyboard bass player. After two years, when his aging keyboard gave out for good, his producer encouraged him to pick up the electric bass. He hasn’t looked back since.
With over 15 years on electric bass, Glaude continues to push himself toward excellence. In 2019, he followed in his parents’ footsteps by graduating from Berklee, majoring in music education. He now shares his passion as a music educator in the Boston Public Schools.
During his time at Berklee, Glaude joined Roots Alley Collective, a band that has enabled him to perform, record, and collaborate with a wide range of artists. His performance credits include legends and rising stars such as Luciano, Richie Spice, Niu Raza, Mighty Mystic, Lutan Fyah, Lyrikal, Iba Mahr, Glen Washington, and many more.
Glaude's mission through music is to inspire self-love—because he believes that when people love themselves, they can better love one another.
